- Abstract
The article focuses on the Hazardous Waste Management Program in Orange County, California. The program is a response for the completion of Health Care Agency's study on hazardous waste generators. It was in March 1982 that a 21-month study was completed in 800 square miles county with population of nearly 2 million. An estimated 101 million gallons of the hazardous waste in approximately 8,000 industries were generated in Orange County. The program is authorized to enforce Sate laws, and its main purpose is to protect public health and the environment by ensuring a safe and legal generation, storage, and disposal of hazardous wastes.
