- Abstract
"War is not a reason for being, it is a step in the quest for peace." This sentence condenses one of the most consistent premises in the process of the Colombian conflict where 80percent of former women combatants works or has worked with projects of peace from the moment of his return to society. This essay explores the experience of ex-combatants women in their transformation from actors of war to subjects of peace and their process of validation and recuperation of memory. I analyze narratives and testimonies of women who participated in the Colombian conflict and their transformation in peace agents either as leaders, peace activists or direct participants in the process of reconciliation. The objective is to explore the generic transformation of society through the role played by women who underwent the processes of conflict, reintegration and reconciliation. The testimonials analyzed are Vera Grave's and her work at the observatory for peace: testimonies of ex-combatants included in the documentary "Revealed" by Juliana Ladrón de Guevara, and narratives from the manuscript, "Mujeres no contadas". I explore also interviews with peace activist s leaders and former guerrilla combatants.
