- Abstract
The article focuses on the legal liability risks of genetically modified (GM) crops and food in the U.S. It discusses the theories of liability such as relief of economic loss for farmers and consumers to recover for damages caused by genetically modified organisms (GMOs). It states incidents and lawsuits associated with contamination cases such as the LibertyLink® rice litigation. It also stresses the need to regulate the labeling, monitoring, and pre-market approval process in the U.S.
