An essay is presented on author Albert Wendt's protests against tradition. The author illustrates the implications of the protests of Wendt for the representation of Pacific Cultures at Te Papa. He points out that Wendt's views shaped the work of Pacific Cultures collection curators and cultural project brokers. However, he does not understand Wendt's demands to prevent the use of tradition in our exhibitions.
