The article offers information on the scope, benefits, and significance of the international labor standards such as the Core Labor Standards (CLS) developed by the International Labor Organization (ILO), in promotion of employee rights and free trade environment globally. Topics include the parallelism of social development and economic development, the national distribution of wealth under the World Trade Organization agreements, and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
