- Abstract
The article discusses a study which examined the prevalence of MYD88 L265P somatic mutation in patients with immunoglobulin M (IgM) monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS) and smouldering Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia (WM). Topics discussed include the use of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technology to analyze mutation from DNA collected from bone marrow slides, the overall survival of the patients, and the high prevalence of MYD88 L265P mutation in WM and SWM patients.
