Abstract
The article discusses the examination concerning the impact of quality improvements on the quality-adjusted and the quality-unadjusted measure of the real exchange rate in the U.S. The study shows that a quality improvement can lead to either measure of the real exchange rate that depends on how costs of production are affected by the quality improvement.
