- Abstract
The article offers information on independent school newspapers in October 1974. According to a study by Lee VanBremen of the Central Connecticut State College, only ten percent of the 157 student newspapers at colleges and universities are considered editorially, financially and legally independent. The results also found that more independent student newspapers are found at private institutions and the major barrier to independence is financial.
