ROUSSEAU AND THE DESIRE FOR COMMUNION.
- Authors
Neidleman, Jason
- Abstract
The article discusses eighteenth-century French philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau, focusing particularly on the interrelationship between the citizen and the solitary, sometimes referred to as the natural man. It explores how Rousseau united such dual notions and his ideas for a communion of two oppositional models of behavior. Topics include the state of nature, man's role in society, and the theories of education forwarded in the book "Emile."
