"Sé bien toda natura" "Bien sé las qualidades de cad'un elemento": tras las huellas de Plinio "El Viejo" y la Historia Natural en el Libro de Alexandre.
- Authors
FERNÁNDEZ IZAGUIRRE, PENÉLOPE MARCELA
- Abstract
The Libro de Alexandre exposes, in his way, nature themes that sometimes are very similar to the scientists considered. However, scholars of the Middle Ages not always inherit the greco-roman wisdom in their original sources, then, in most cases, it has been necessary to resort to other texts that rescue investigations of Pliny and suited to the Christian Middle Ages, for example, the Etimologías of St. Isidore of Seville. So in this research I will discuss some of the episodes that lead us to identify plinian naturalistic notions of origin in the Book of Alexandre. To the above I will refer to two of the disciplines that make up the special "alexandrista quadrivium" astronomy and natural science (in its aspects that are zoology, mineralogy and physical geography).
