The article reports on the study that shows that interferon-α (IFN-α) can increase the expression of APOBEC3G by macrophages. IFN-α inhibit the infection of macrophages by HIV because IFN-α has been shown to induce the expression of an RNA-specific adenosine deaminase. However, it was also shown to induce the expression of other members of the APOBEC3 family, the APOBEC3A and APOBECF.
