The European Communities were born, in the decade of 1950, with extremely clear social aims. Near to them, there were some tiny, collateral social questions, subordinated to those, that in time would become the European Social Policy. This paper tries to point, exhaustively, the whole "social" of these first years of the European journey, certifying that, actually, not very much was done, but also not so few as is usually considered.
