The Sun Is a Star?!
- Authors
Hutchison, Paul
- Abstract
The article discusses how teachers should address students' misconceptions regarding scientific concepts, focusing on how to help student reconcile science ideas with what makes sense to them prior to instruction. Rather than confronting and dismissing students' sensible ideas, the author suggests that science classes promote student thinking. Particular attention is given to the author's experiences teaching a third-grade class about the phases of the Moon and the idea of the Sun as a star.
