- Title
Ocean's "Twilight Zone".
- Abstract
The article reports on an international research expeditions to the Pacific Ocean concerning the dim layer of the ocean which is called the twilight zone. Such study involves the ocean's ability to absorb and store carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Result shows that carbon dioxide that is being utilized by marine plants does not directly penetrate to the depths of the ocean; but enters in sinking particles that are often consumed by marine animals and bacteria. Such gas does not return to the atmosphere as greenhouse gas and never reaches the deep ocean as it is being recycled in the twilight zone.
