- Abstract
The article discusses the different types of automation ignition systems, the key components of gas-fired products, including direct spark (DSI) and hot surface ignitions (HSI). In DSI, the kindling coil will generate a high voltage charge that goes across a spark plug or will light directly a flammable gas at the burner unit. HSI deals with minimizing electrical interference and is applied on high gas flow. The glow bar, made up of semiconductor ceramic material, is responsible for igniting the gas just like the one applied in diesel engine. Silicon nitride ignition is supposedly used as an alternative in the application of silicon carbide ceramic but study showed that it should be considered as a new type of ignition that calls for proper application.
