- Title
Department of Health to investigate dentists who recall healthy patients.
- Abstract
The article reports that Barry Cockroft, Chief Dental Officer for England, is discussing with primary care trusts (PCT) how to stop dentists from playing the system by recalling healthy patients for checks too frequently and dividing courses of treatment to trigger extra payments. "The Independent" report stated that ending the practice could release an estimated 800,000 appointments. The newspaper report adds that gaming was more prevalent in the South than in the North of the country.
