- Title
Mentoring the next generation of ToxSci authors—I Spy ToxSci.
- Authors
Willett, Kristine L
- Abstract
This article discusses the importance of mentoring in scientific publishing, specifically in the field of toxicology. The editorial team of the journal Toxicological Sciences (ToxSci) emphasizes the need to nurture the respect for the journal in the next generation of authors. Mentoring can help address challenges in publishing, such as predatory journals and biases, and can guide trainees in understanding the intricacies of rigor and reproducibility in their manuscripts. The Society of Toxicology (SOT) is committed to fostering mentor-mentee relationships and offers various mentoring programs and events. To engage trainees in publishing, ToxSci has developed an interactive "I Spy ToxSci: Trainee Scavenger Hunt" at their annual meeting. The goal is to make ToxSci relevant and valuable to both trainees and seasoned authors.
