- Abstract
Background: Integrated Management of Childhood Illnes (IMCI) was inaugurated by WHO and UNICEF in 1990 to improve the survival of infants and toddlers in developing countries. Until now, the data coverage on the number of children under five served by MTBS and the findings of cases, especially pneumonia cases, have not all been handled because the midwives and health workers managing MTBS have not been obedient in displaying case classifications and several health workers have stated that they have never received training related to MTBS. Objective: In order to provide MTBS services at the Puskesmas in cases of pneumonia and diarrhea in infants under five in Tegal and Grobogan Regencies, it is the objective of this service to update the knowledge and skills of health professionals. Method: The approach used in this activity is to help health workers through the processes of outreach, socialization, material acquisition, dialogue, mentoring, regular monitoring, and evaluation by IDAI and the Health Office. Increasing the capacity of health professionals to deliver MTBS services at Puskesmas is the benchmark for success. Results: Results and assistant training revealed that certain health professionals at the Puskesmas were hesitant to classify pneumonia cases, resulting in the discovery of relatively few pneumonia cases at the Puskesmas. The completeness of the infrastructure at the puskesmas also does not meet the suitability of the MTBS chart book. Conclusion: To assist IMCI management services linked to cases of pneumonia and diarrhea in infants and toddlers, Puskesmas must regularly provide facilities and training.
