- Abstract
The article discusses the neurological disease Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD), a prion disease identified as transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSE). Topics covered include their identification in both humans and animals, types and symptoms of TSEs, and guidelines for handling known or suspected tissues/fluids from patients at risk for CJD. Also noted are the decontamination of infected TSE materials and precautions in handling them.
