The article focuses on a research related to general and pediatric dentists' subjective judgements of orthodontic case complexity by researchers A.P. Batarse and colleagues, published in "American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics." Topics discussed include identification of the subjective complexity of the case with the use of a 100-point visual analog scale; higher referral rates for pediatric dentists; and perceptions influenced the decision to refer to an orthodontist.
