- Abstract
The Zhengzhou section is representative in the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River. Studying the changes of river morphology of it can provide scientific basis for the treatment of the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River and evaluate the effect of the Xiaolangdi Reservoir on water and sediment discharge. Based on Landsat 8 satellite images, the multi-phase water information from Taohuayu to Huayuankou was extracted. Changes of river surface area and length, river swing and overlap were studied, and the causes of them were analyzed. The results show that the water surface area of this reach has a large range of variations during the study period, but it maintains a dynamic stability between years; the river length changes very little and basically remains unchanged; the river swing gradually narrows, the wandering property gradually weakens, and the river type tends to be stable. All the above indicate that the regulation role of Xiaolangdi Reservoir is becoming more and more significant.
