- Abstract
The effect of sediment flushing and pre-discharge for flood control of Xiaolangdi Reservoir during the main flood season from July 3 to 11, 2018 was analyzed. The maximum flow of the pre-discharge process was 4 490 m3/s, the maximum sediment concentration was 154 kg/m3, the outflow water amount of reservoir was 2.003 billion cubic meters, the outflow sediment amount of reservoir was 127.4 million tons, and the average sediment concentration was 63.6 kg/m3, which achieved a good result of sediment flushing. The analysis shows that under the premise of reasonable scheduling and operation of Xiaolangdi Reservoir, lowering the water level of the reservoir can improve the effect of sediment flushing significantly, and when the average water level of the reservoir falls below 225 m during the period of sediment flushing, the sediment flushing effect is improved significantly. It is suggested that the relevant research should be strengthened in the future work and floods in the upper and middle reaches that scour the lower reaches of the river should be properly dispatched.
