- Abstract
Xichuan County is the core source area and the main flood zone of the Mid-Route of the South-to-North Water Transfer Project and also the location of the head work. Soil erosion and ecological environment problems caused by stone desertification are becoming more and more serious, so it is an important precondition for the effective prevention and control of stone desertification through choosing a reasonable index system to divide the degree of stone desertification and determine its distribution range and area. According to the natural characteristics of Xichuan County, bedrock exposure degree, vegetation type, vegetation coverage and soil thickness were selected as the index of stone desertification discrimination and degree division, through investigation and human-computer interactive interpretation of high-resolution remote sensing images, index score and comprehensive score were scored. Stone desertification in Xichuan County was classified into four grades; potential, mild, moderate and severe; the distribution range and spatial characteristics of stone desertification in Xichuan County were obtained based on 3S technology'. The results show that the classification index, discrimination criteria and method are simple and feasible and the results are reasonable and accord with the actual situation.
