- Abstract
A 87-years-old women comes to the emergency department due to nausea and fecal vomiting of two or three days of evolution, without deposition. On physical examination, the abdomen is soft and depressible, without peritoneal irritation. On palpation, she refers abdominal discomfort. In the blood analysis, she presents leukocytosis with neutrophilia, and a increase of LDH, amylase, and PCR. Abdominal X-ray shows a big distension of the large bowel. An abdominal CT with intravenous contrast is requested due to the suspicion of acute abdominal pathology. It confirmes the colon distension, and permits observing a sigmoid neoplasm causing secondary intussuception and bowel obstruction.
