- Abstract
Objective: Identify, in the literature, the prevalence of pressure injuries related to medical devices in the context of the ICU and associated devices. Method: Integrative review, carried out in June 2022, in the PUBMED, EMBASE, CINAHL and LILACS databases, correlating the descriptors Equipment and Supplies, Pressure Ulcer, Intensive Care Units and synonymous free terms. Studies published from 2017 to 2022, primary, available in full and free, were included. I excluded experience reports, monographs, dissertations, letters, theses and studies that did not answer the research question. Language and/or study design filters were not applied. The data were organized, analyzed and interpreted in a synthesized way, being arranged in a table with the following variables: journal, authors, year of publication, title, objectives, types of study, main results. Results: Most (33%) of the studies were published in 2022 and in the English language (8-90%). The majority (5-56%) were of the prospective observational type. The prevalence of medical device-related injuries ranged from 1.4 to 121%. The devices that cause the most injuries are the endotracheal tube (7.63%), nasal oxygen catheter (7.63%) and pulse oximeter (7.63%). Conclusion: It is recommended to implement strategies related to the monitoring of indicators related to the risk of pressure injuries, the number of medical devices present in the patient and the incidence of pressure injuries related to medical devices.
