- Abstract
Objective: To survey the data contained in DATASUS about micro and macrovascular complications resulting from Type 1 and 2 Diabetes Mellitus in patients registered in the HIPERDIA program in Minas Gerais in the years 2012/2013 and, based on these data, to identify which of the resulting comorbidities of diabetes prevails in the state. Methodology: The methodology used in the study is quantitative, exploratory and descriptive. Among micro and macrovascular complications, data related to Acute Myocardial Infarction, Chronic Kidney Disease, Diabetic foot and number of amputations of patients assisted in HIPERDIA centers in Minas Gerais were identified. Results: It was found that there is a higher incidence of type 2 diabetes among female patients aged 50-54 years and acute myocardial infarction was the complication with the highest number of registered patients. Conclusion: It was concluded the importance of controlling Diabetes Mellitus in order to avoid its complications and also, the need to register and analyze the registered data, because through these it is possible to evaluate the reality of the state and propose interventions that can minimize or avoid the incidence of complications.
