- Abstract
Objective: to analyze the tissue repair process of a patient with venous ulcer in the lower limb submitted to treatment with an Unna boot. Method: case study referring to a venous ulcer evaluation process, carried out at a University Hospital in the interior of the State of Paraná, from June 20 to September 2, 2017. A protocol was used with clinical data, application of the boot of Unna, measurement of the lesion area and the photographic record. Results: female patient, 56 years old, lesion in the right lower limb for 4 years, hypertensive and diabetic. After using the Unna boot for twelve weeks, there was a significant reduction in the wound, that is, there was almost complete healing, improvement in pain and reduction of edema of the lower limbs, and the patient reported improvement in his self-esteem. Still, there were positives results in his general clinical picture, promoted by weight loss. Conclusion: treatment with the Unna boot proved to be effective in healing venous ulcers together with systematized outpatient care.
