- Abstract
The article focuses on a study related to the impact of a Mexican diet on the bioavailability of albendazole. In order to evaluate the influence of a Mexican diet on the bioavailability of albendazole a two-way cross-over comparative study was carried out in healthy volunteers after a single oral dose of 800 mg in fasting and fed state. Albendazole was administered in a single oral dose of 800 mg to both groups after an overnight fast. Results show that the bioavailability of albendazole was increased when it was combined with the Mexican diet. The increase in plasma levels of albendazole sulfoxide did not decrease the inter-individual variability.
