- Abstract
Background: Gallstone ileus is described by a mechanical intestinal block that is very misleading to analyze. Gallstone ileus is an uncommon sickness and records for 1-4% of all instances of mechanical intestinal deterrent. It as a rule happens in the old with a female prevalence and may bring about a high death rate. Gallstone ileus has shown a consistent rate of 30-35 cases/1000000 confirmations over a 45-year time frame. This substance creates in 0.3%-0.5% of patients with cholelithiasis. Objective: To determine the frequency of gallstone ileus in patients with acute abdominal pain evaluated on computed tomography. Methodology: In this descriptive study, among 195 patients of abdominal pain were selected with age and gender discrimination by convenient sampling, at Lahore General Hospital, Radiology Department. Toshiba 128-slice CT machine was used. Results: In this study, 195 patients visited the radiology department due to pain in the abdominal region. There were 134 males and 61 were females. Out of 195 patients, 42 patients have complained of vomiting, 7 patients had dilatation of CBD, and 144 had thickened gallbladder walls. There were 12 patients diagnosed with gallstone ileus. The frequency of gall stone ileus with abdominal pain was higher in males than females. The minimum age was 19 years and the maximum was 75 years. Conclusion: This study concludes that gallstone ileus is not common in patients with acute abdominal pain.
