- Abstract
THE AIM of the study is to evaluate the main morbidity and fatality factors of all the patients of the surgery service from 2008 to 2012 so that we can obtain scientifi c evidence over the models of morbidity and fatality in the Military Hospital. OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the dispersion of the Morbidity by age, sex, civil/military status, pathology. To evaluate the dispersion of mortality by age, sex, civil/military status, pathology. To evaluate the case-fatality of the most frequent pathology. The data are taken from the medical records of the surgery services from 2008 to 2012. There are 15116 cases included in this study. The medical records have been studied and the data like age, sex, civil/military status, pathology has been processed by the SPSS program (SPSS Statistical Package for Social Science Inc., Chicago, IL, USA). RESULTS: The study shows that the Morbidity prevalence of the surgery services in the Military Hospital from 2008 to 2012 is 58.2%. The most frequent cases are males 66.4%, civilians, 92%, and diagnosed with Cerebral Contusion. Only 4.6% of all cases are fatal cases. The index of case-fatality for the Cerebral Contusion pathology is 19%. In our days surgery has an important role in the prevention of deaths and chronic disabilities as well as in the important effect that has in increasing life quality level.
