- Abstract
This article focuses on hormone assay standardization. Growth hormone (GH) measurement has been in clinical practice for over 30 years, but throughout this time has been dogged by discrepancies between immunoassays. The bias between methods may be attributed to a number of causes, some of which are more readily resolvable than others. Inaccuracy in assigning calibrator values, the use of variably specific antibodies and inconsistencies in cut-off values for GH provocative tests prevents diagnostic laboratories from maximizing their contribution to the investigation of GH status.
