- Abstract
The article presents a case study of a 16-year-old Japanese boy with one-month history of hair loss and scaling on the occipito-nuchal region. Microscopic examination of the hair having potassium hydroxide solution showed branching hyphae within a hair shaft. The diagnosis of inflammatory tinea capitis because of Trichophyton tonsurans was created. Oral terbinafine was administered and pustules vanished in two weeks and hairs began to grow in four weeks.
