- Abstract
The article presents a meta-analysis on the impact of afforestation on calcium (Ca), potassium (K), magnesium (Mg), carbon (C), nitrogen (N), and pH. The results show that afforestation yielded significant decrease on Ca, K, Mg, N and C soil concentration while increases were seen in sodium (Na). It notes that the decreases imply that trees consume big amounts of soil nutrients and that biomass harvesting can impair the fertility of soil.
