- Abstract
LC-MS is a technique based on chromatographic principle coupled with mass detector. It has surpassed GC-MS in its versatility, sensitivity and accuracy. The technique is used widely for forensic analysis of drugs, explosives and chemical warfare agents. This review gives an overview of the basic principle of LC-MS, ion sources used for ionisation and the types of analysers used for analysis. Brief of the pros and cons of each source and analyser is also given. Some light which has also been poured on STA (Systematic Toxicological Analysis) of samples has been reviewed. Applications of LC-MS on forensic analysis have been discussed on the basis of samples obtained from site of crime
