The article presents a critical look at the books "Light in August" and "The Wild Palms," by William Faulkner. According to the author, "Light in August" demonstrates the logic of suppressing agency in preference of embracing one's structural functionality within an ideology. "The Wild Palms" explores institutional history through the experiences of characters.
