- Abstract
The present article, linked to the GECUDEDIS Study Group of the UFPR, aims to mobilize, tense and problematize the mathematics textbooks of the 1st cycle (1st to 4th grade) of basic education in Cape Verde based on the concept-analysis gender. Theoretically, it is based on post-critical curriculum theories, more specifically, on cultural studies and gender relations. Methodologically, it is included in a qualitative research approach through documentary analysis of curriculum materials inspired by the French discourse analysis. Among the main results, it was noticed that there is a very explicit definition and delimitation of the feminine and masculine genders in the analyzed images, and that both have typical elements used to demarcate the persons of each gender. While women and girls are mostly wearing makeup, pink clothes, skirts, dresses, ballet flats, high heel shoes, thin eyebrows, long hair, and accessories; men and boys are predominantly seen wearing baggy clothes, sneakers, short hair, and thick eyebrows.
