- Abstract
The article provides a brief history about domestic shipbreaking and examines the law and policy affecting it in the U.S. The practice of shipbreaking is a process of breaking down the structure of a vessel with the purpose of dismantling it. However, there are laws that have affected the process which include the regulation of the Environmental Protection Agency on the removal and disposal of asbestos, which is the primary environmental concern of shipbreaking.
