- Abstract
The purpose of the study is to determine opinions of candidate and advisor teachers, working in secondary education schools regarding advisor mentoring roles (AMR) and role behaviors that are presented or are expected to be presented, in mentoring relationship within candidate teacher training process. Phenomenology design was used in qualitative study in which Cohen Mentoring Roles (CMR) and role behaviors were taken as reference. Maximum diversity and criterion sampling were used. 12 candidates' and 9 advisor teachers' opinions were subjected to descriptive analysis. According to the findings, presented AMR and role behaviors show differences and similarities with CMR and other mentoring roles. The mentoring role behaviors that candidates think are least presented by advisors in mentoring relationship belong to confrontation, facilitator and be model mentoring roles. Both sides care about 'constructive criticism' for confrontation mentoring role. In interest-based mentoring role age difference, in being model mentoring role the generation gap and candidate's openness or closeness to learning are important determinants for AMR and role behaviors. To establish 'applied certified (advisor) mentoring training program', and to investigate effect of cultural differences on presenting AMR with comparative studies to be carried out in other country samples are among the suggestions of the study.
