- Abstract
Teachers are a guide who teach us who we are and reveal the values that make us who we are. Many teachers start their professions in order to fulfill their duties and responsibilities determined by laws without knowing that they are obligatory. In this context, this study was conducted to determine the perceptions of teachers working at different levels (kindergarten, primary school, middle school and high school) regarding what their duties and responsibilities should actually be. This study is important in terms of contributing to the creation of policies that will ensure that teachers do not have difficulties in identifying with the school and nurturing positive emotions about their profession, that they become attached to their professions and develop positive emotions. The sample for the population was determined using the simple random sampling method. The sample consists of 25 teachers in kindergarten, primary school, secondary school and high school in Adana, Ankara, Iğdır, Van, Bursa provinces in the 2019-2020 academic year. The study was carried out in a phenomenology study model, one of the qualitative research methods. A semi-structured interview form was created for the purpose of the research in order to get information from the teachers who make up the study group. In the study, teachers stated that "keep watch" and "duties assigned by the administration" were among the tasks felt most responsible for and stated that they mostly experienced anxiety about these tasks. This situation revealed that it negatively affects the performance of teachers in the education and training process.
