- Abstract
Background: India is second to none in terms of technologies and resources in blood banking. Yet there is a constant balance to be made vis-a-vis cost and quality services. The feeling that product and services should be available at a lower cost could often lead to serious consequences. Results and Conclusion: This presentation highlights the techniques in manufacturing of Blood grouping reagents (both monoclonal and polyclonal). Mention will also be made of some of the dangers posed when selecting reagents which are not properly screened. The presentation will throw light on areas where Blood Bankers may be misled by unethical reagent manufacturers and gives guidelines on proper selection of reagents.
