Case Response II.
- Authors
Dowd, Amanda
- Abstract
This article discusses a case vignette involving a patient named Patricia who developed breast cancer during therapy. The author explores the potential dangers of the unconscious-to-unconscious link in the transference and countertransference relationship. They suggest that Patricia's experiences of feeling abandoned and unrecognized in her early life may have contributed to her symptoms. The author also reflects on their own identification with Patricia and the challenges of working with patients who disavow their pain. The article emphasizes the importance of recognition and love in the therapeutic relationship.
