- Title
DEFRA orders 22-5 million doses of bluetongue vaccine.
- Abstract
The article reports that the Great Britain Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA) has ordered 22.5 million doses of vaccine to help counter the threat of bluetongue in Great Britain. There is no vaccine available for the serotype 8 strain of the virus but DEFRA hopes that the order will ensure the avilability of the vaccine by the summer. Vaccination could be an important part of the government's strategy to control the impact of the disease in 2008.
