- Authors
Girasek, Deborah C.; Gielen, Andrea C.
- Abstract
The article presents a research on public belief in regard to strategies for effective injury prevention . The research involved random telephone survey of adults asking them to name effective strategies to prevent deaths due to falls, drowning, poisoning, fires, burns and motor vehicle accidents. Majority of the 943 respondents knew prevention techniques. Participants with few years of education were at higher risk for not knowing prevention techniques. The study also revealed that while most American's know how to prevent injuries and death, they do not appreciate safe products and health-promoting environments.
