- Abstract
The article investigates the impact of cholesterol feeding on membrane fluidity, (Na+ + K+)ATPase, adenylate cyclase, [3H]-ouabain-, and [3H]-dihydroalprenolol-binding in the submandibular salivary glands of rats. Experimental procedures are described and results are discussed. Cholesterol feeding produced increased molar ratios of cholesterol to phospholipids, and higher fluorescence polarization in membranes of the submandibular salivary glands. Cholesterol diets also produced greater binding affinity and fewer binding sites for [3H] dihydroalprenolol.
