- Title
Mapping the Faultlines: A Historical Perspective on the 2008-2009 World Economic Crisis.
- Authors
Gökay, Bülent; Whitman, Darrell
- Abstract
The article presents the authors' view on the cause of the 2008-2009 world economic crises. The authors argued that the sub-prime lending, which began in the U.S. in the early 2000s, was generated not for the purpose of providing houses but in response to an accumulation of capital in the international financial system. In addition, the authors offer a closer evaluation of the sub-prime mortgage lending.
