- Abstract
The article examines the entrance exams at acting schools in the German-speaking region and the significance of human differentiations such as ethnicity, race, gender, age, and disability in these procedures. The study is conducted from an ethnographic perspective and compares two admission procedures in Hannover and Munich. It is found that the applicant pool is already homogenized prior to the examination, which can lead to questionable human differentiations. The performance assessment at the schools is structurally and systematically influenced by gender affiliations. It is emphasized that ethnographic approaches can provide insights into processes of change.
