- Abstract
The article focuses on the development of an examination in science which measures factual information and its application and interpretation. The Whole Truth and Nothing But the Truth Examination is used in an experimental study comparing a laboratory-centered with a textbook-centered approach to learning. Part I of the examination is consists of items which require simple recall of basic facts. It's second part is consists of items which require the application of facts. The part three of the examination is used to test the students comprehension and interpretation of the findings of an experiment.
