- Abstract
The article cites a survey on the interests of tenth and eleventh grade pupils in biology course based on the topics discussed in high school biology textbooks. A chart depicting the rank of biology textbooks based on science students' degree of interest is presented. The main topics of ten Biology textbooks available in Denver Schools and the University of Denver libraries were surveyed to determine the emphasis given to each by the authors of the biology textbooks and the frequency of occurrence in various books. Based on the data gathered, the author concluded that there was a consistent correlation between the emphases given by textbook writers, no consistent correlation between the topics emphasized by authors and that there was a high agreement between the various categories and groups of pupils both in tenth and eleventh grade levels.
