- Title
Saurer took over M&J Fibretech.
- Abstract
The article reports on the acquisition of the engineering company M&J Fibretech A/S by the Saurer AG, a designer and supplier of airlaid systems for the nonwovens industry based in Arbon, Germany, as of March 2004. Cellulose fibers and short cut staple fibers are made into a fabric, which predominantly finds application in hygiene products. Product responsibility for the nonwovens division lies with the Saurer subsidiary Neumag. The company offers total solutions for the nonwovens industry with systems and plants for the production of spunbonds. Carsten Voigtl&aml;nder, CEO of Neumag, emphasizes that airlaid is a process with extremely good prospects and perfectly supplements Neumag's ranges of products and services, as it can be combined with the company's spunbond process. Nonwovens are fabrics with an ever-increasing range of applications: Filters, baby diapers, insulating materials and wipes are just a few examples. The global growth rate of the nonwovens market lies in excess of 6 percent a year. The purchase, according to Heinrich Fischer, CEO of Saurer, has made Saurer expand its solution competence in the nonwovens sector and have strengthened its market position as a Total Solutions Provider.
