- Abstract
Xinjiang is rich in copper-nickel ore. The solution obtained by leaching of copper-nickel ore will produce slag containing nickel and cobalt after removing cobalt by adding NiOOH. Recovering valuable metals in nickel–cobalt slag after water washing (hereinafter referred to as NCSW) has important environmental and economic significance. The purpose of this study was to optimize the parameters affecting the leaching of NCSW and to study the leaching kinetics of nickel and cobalt. According to XPS, there are trivalent nickel and trivalent cobalt in the NCSW, and the total amount of trivalent nickel and trivalent cobalt was determined by iodometry. In this study, the NCSW was leached by H2SO4 and H2O2. The best leaching conditions are that the dosage of concentrated sulfuric acid is 0.0076 mol/g NCSW, the dosage of hydrogen peroxide is 0.08 mL/g NCSW, temperature is 70°C, liquid–solid ratio is 4:1, and leaching time is 3 h. Based on the unreacted core model, the leaching kinetics of NCSW was determined, and the leaching reaction of nickel and cobalt conformed to the chemical reaction control model. According to the Arrhenius formula, the activation energies of nickel and cobalt were calculated to be 44.51 kJ/mol and 45.49 kJ/mol, respectively.
